PTaylor Made RAC Fe2O3 raw wedge 56.12(loft/bounce angle)
Shaft:S300(stiff flex)
Grip:Taylor Made proprietary
Looks:Taylor Made have always prided themselves in producing good
looking clubs, but their wedges up to this point have been moderate at
best. The Tour series wedges were an ugly club (but performed quite well)
and it was significant that virtually no touring pros put them in their
bags.No such problems here though. These clubs are exactly the same club
as the chrome RAC wedges but are finished with a hot oil coating (same
as Titleist Vokey oil can). They are sleek (thin topline and minimal offset)
and the milled "feel pockets" at the back of the club are not
noticable at address. As with The Vokey wedges a benefit of the darker
finish is that the clubhead appears smaller which will appeal to low handicappers
the most.
The main benefit of a darker finish is that it will reduce glare, particulary
when the clubface is opened at address (lob shots, bunker shots).

Performance:These wedges feel heavier in the hands than other wedges
that are currently in vogue (Titleist vokey,Cleveland 900 series),but
not quite as heavy as the superb Callaway forged. These are forged clubs
so the feel off the clubhead is solid and quite soft.Trajectory is very
strong and I got excellent distance (longer than Titleist ,Hogan and Callaway
wedges).I was able to hit all the shots with this wedge (lobs, punches
and knockdowns).
Because of the heavy head it glided through thick rough with ease and
was extremely good from sand (again the heavy head helped here).A further
benefit of the oil coated finish is that the ball does not seem to "jump"
as much off the club face from the rough. This is also the case with clubs
finished in gunmetal (eg.Cleveland wedges and irons and the very classy
Feel range of wedges and irons). This helps to give consistent distance
which is really what you are looking for in a wedge
You will like the look of the gap wedge (52 degree) of this model which
would be ideal for those awkward shots of 110-120 yards and because of
it's low bounce would also be ideal from tight fairway lies and fairway
bunkers.
Touch shots around the green were more difficult and some players will
prefer a lighter headed wedge (Snake Eyes,Cleveland BRZ).The feel pockets
made this club v.forgiving on mishits also.

Value:Competitively priced at $109 for a top named brand, this
club represents good value and resale value will be good, particulary as
TaylorMade seem to change models about every 6 months. These wedges are
designed to rust over time (which helps spin levels),but may cosmetically
affect resale value. However Cleveland RTG (rusty) wedges are still prized
clubs to own and resale value is not affected much in the long term. This
should also be the case here.A word of caution.A friend of mine advised
me that the best method to remove rust from a club was to immerse it in
Coca-cola.Try this on a Vokey oil-can and you will be horrified to find
that not only the rust but also the oil finish was removed!
If you need to remove rust in this way make sure that it is only used
on a chrome finish club, otherwise use a wire brush!

Verdict:This is an excellent wedge which will appeal to all standards
of player, but will work best in the hands of good wedge players. They look
good in the bag and perform superbly.A major improvement on TaylorMade's
previous wedge offerings.High handicap golfers would be best advised to
look for something more forgiving (eg.new Nike CPR range),but mid to low
men will find these very tasty indeed.
